1900 San Buenaventura Lodge No. 214 Past Master
Worshipful William E. Ready January 13, 1900, Brother William E. Ready was installed Master. William E. (Bill) Ready was born in Hamilton County, Ohio on October 25, 1849. His father was born in the same county and was a farmer all his life. William E. Ready was the fourth of a family of twelve children. He engaged in farming near Keokuk, Iowa, from 1861 to 1866; then he worked for a year in Colorado; and then in the spring of 1878 came to California. In September of that year he settled in Ventura County. He worked by the month for $25.00 a month for four years, and then bought forth acres of the richest Ventura County land two and one half miles east of the City of San Buenaventura. He was one of the most successful farmers in Ventura County and farmed the same land all the rest of his life. Brother William E. Ready passed away November 14, 1927. |
